Our eye care center in Norfolk offers a full range of eye health services to clients of all ages, from children to older adults: routine eye exams and vision tests, eye disease diagnosis and management, and more.

Healthy vision for adults and kids = more than 20/20 vision

There’s much more involved in having healthy eyes than just visual acuity, and our Norfolk eye doctor uses advanced technology to perform comprehensive eye exams to check the entire visual system for adults and children. When treating kids, this is particularly important, because a problem with visual skills such as eye mobility, binocularity, and focusing can seriously challenge their ability to learn in school or play on the sports field.

Some vision problems result from a disruption in the communication between your brain and your eyes. Traumatic brain injury, such as stroke or a concussion, can lead to a variety of visual processing disorders. If you’ve experienced a brain injury, visit our qualified eye doctor in Norfolk for a neuro-optometric evaluation and custom-designed rehabilitation therapy.

Looking out for ocular disease

Many common eye diseases stay silent for a long time before causing symptoms that you notice. That’s why regular eye exams are so important – they’re the most reliable way to detect a problem early on, which enables you to benefit from treatment as soon as possible. When conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy are left untreated, they can cause irreversible vision loss. Our Norfolk eye doctor specializes in progressive glaucoma management with the latest therapies.

If you have diabetes, your risk of developing eye disease is increased. That’s why it’s critical to visit Southern Eyecare Associates for yearly diabetic eye exams.
